A stunning and heavy fourteen carat yellow gold money clip featuring a solid gold 1924, U.S minted, twenty Dollar coin mounted into the center in superb condition. The clip itself is a classic sprung wire frame clip where the cash or cards can be inserted.
This piece is signed for having been made by Cartier in New York. Along the bottom part of the clip, alongside the '14k', offset to the right part, is the Cartier unique reference number stamped into the metal.
Cartier made a few examples of these clip during the Art Deco period using various gold US denomination coins. This is the largest gold coin used that we have found.
This is one of the finest money clips to come out of the art Deco period, and remains in superb condition. Heavy with a very tight spring to it, it shows signs of very little use over its nearly one hundred years of use. Made in America. Circa 1930's
